According to The Verge, Apple’s latest iOS update will provide iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max users with additional upgrades to their existing state of the art camera. The new ProRAW combines the suppleness of a standard RAW file with features such as Deep Fusion and Smart HDR which provide greater photographic customization. In addition to enhanced facial and landscape editing, the latest software provides users with photos and videos in DNG format. As such, files can be edited using an abundance of existing apps without the need to update further. However, Apple’s RAW converter will likely provide users with even more options to customize.
Despite the list of impressive features that come with the latest software update, a major drawback for some will undoubtedly be the size of the files taken using the new ProRAW. The average size is 25MB and for serial photographers, this will likely result in taking up an excess amount of storage space.
The ProRAW will be available on the front and rear camera feature of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.
